A House for an Artist is the final piece of my 12th grade work. My high school took part in a competition which was aimed for second year architecture students from the entire country. Being only participants, our work was presented at the Baia Mare Art Gallery. The purpose was to create on a gives site a house for an artist, with leaving and working spaces.
I designed the house for a four member family in the 12th grade. The main feature of the parallelepiped building is the terrace with wood structure and covered in canvas. The structure creates shading, animating the composition.
The cabin was designed in a group of three students in the 11th grade. The cabin is situated on a hill, with different level changes. Collaboratively designing the building and creating the drawings and model, the project was presented to the design and architecture teacher, as well as to architects.
The composition reveals the contrasts between grayscale colours, emphasizing light on the objects. The hand drawing was carried out in 6 hours on a 60/70 cm black paper.
The drawing’s purpose was the study of light and shadows on different volumes, and to play with the transparency. It was carried out in 6 hours on 50/70cm paper.
